Course Overview

This Course will provide participants the knowledge and experience for the complete service, maintenance, and diagnostics of the HSK78 CM2358 LBNG Genset and associated control system (Deif AGC-5). It is conducted over 3 consecutive weeks requiring a high degree of physical activity.

Cummins Technical Support and Commissioning Engineers, Cummins Field Support Engineers, OEM and Customer Field and Service Engineers.

Course Objectives

This course is designed to empower and qualify our students with the theoretical and practical knowledge for the correct operation, repair, and maintenance of the complete HSK78 CM2358 generator set using the correct service procedures required. (QuickServe Online)

Course Content

WEEK 1

  • Generator Set Overview
  • Control System Overview
  • GIB – DC / AC architecture
  • AC control Box – auxiliary system control – Heaters, Pumps, HT/LT Cooling System, Auto-greasing system
  • Ignition Box,
  • UPS system -
  • Deif AGC-5 – operation, interconnects, software, diagnostics
  • DVR 310 – software, diagnostics
  • HMI – Operation, Software, Configuration
  • Practical and Theory Test – for Qualification

WEEK 2 + 3

  • Practical Engine review – Introduction to the New QSOL service structure, procedures and guidelines
  • Remove & Install all components as per QSOL service information - This includes these major items –
  •  Water pump, Oil Cooler, Oil Pump, Oil Pan (Sump).
  •  Cam Shaft and Support Bearing,
  •  Charge Air Cooler,
  • Cylinder Head, Power Cylinder,
  • Main Bearing and Alternator Roll Back.
  • Review of the Fueling Management System DSSV – VPS and new component introduction
  • Practical and Theory Test – For Qualification

Software required and licensed

Request well in advance of the training

  • Indusoft – Version IWS V8.1 (For Cummins employees request from software shelf – apply for license key)
  • Cummins Utility Software 3.41 - Deif version
  • Deif EasyReg (for the DVR310)
  • Microsoft Windows 10 Network Operator (the facility to change IP address on laptop / computer) (For Cummins employees you can apply for a "D" Account through the IT helpdesk)
  • Insite and Inline 6/7.
  • UPS-Config V2.8 (Phoenix Contact – good to have but not vital)

Additional Information

  • For Qualification level of achievement, students will require access to QSOL Engine or Powergen Portal
  • Students must provide their own Clean Safety Shoes for working on the Engine in the Workshop. Working coveralls can be provided as this is a Fully Hands-on training course.
